HORSHAM COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL
March 2010

Horsham’s third Country Music Festival which was held from 18th to 21st March 2010 was bigger and better than 2008and 2009.

Attendance was up 18% on 2009  - predominately because of the increase in caravaners from outside the region.

Festival Co-ordinator Lyall Wheaton said that both of Horsham’s caravan parks sold out of powered sites, while motel bookings were well above the previous two years.

A Patrons Survey praised the quality of the artists and the venues. The introduction of buskers, a comedy night, dance floor and gospel music marathon were all well received.

Mr. Wheaton said that “a feature of the 2010 Festival was that 21 individuals or groups from throughout the Wimmera performed this year.” We had nine local artists, 15 Walk Ups and 25 buskers.

The Horsham Country Music Association has made two changes for 2011:

• A ‘Poet Breakfast’ will be held on Sunday morning

• ‘Bush Balladeers’ and ‘Comedy Capers’ will be held on alternate years. ‘Bush Balladeers’ will commence in 2011 with ‘Comedy Capers’ returning in 2012, etc.
